Bamford and Rice Race Prep Win F2000 Title

bamfordpitt1 Steve Bamford locked up the 2016 FRP F2000 Championship with a conservative 4th place finish at the New Jersey Motorsport Park on Saturday, August 27th. That locked up the points tally with 3 events to go. "We were testing some new stuff for next year" reports team owner Greg Rice, " but obviously they were not yet good enough. Although Steve was really fast in the race, he started too far back and the track is tough to pass at. We all wanted to finish it off with a better performance but thrilled with Steve's accomplishment". Bamford was back on pace in Sunday qualifying, but got pushed off in the first corner on the start, and had to fight his way back to 4th, in a similar fashion to the Saturday race, setting fast lap both days.. It was Bamford's first Championship in 6 years of competition. Rice has been involved in numerous championship programs over the years, but his only previous Pro Championship was 1994 as part of  Falcon Racing's SCCA Pro F2000 effort with Mike Borkowski and Jeff McCusker. " Our current group of guys is the best team I have ever had" comments Rice, "and we are ready to bring more cars to the F2000 Series in 2017." Rice Race Prep will be at Road Atlanta and Homestead events in September and October with F4.  The SCCA Runoffs (Mid-Ohio) and FRP finale (VIR) are sandwiched in between.
