Simon Sikes Drives RiceRace Citation to 35th Anniversary Formula Continental Championship

Simon Sikes and RiceRace arrived at the Indianapolis Speedway for the SCCA Runoffs with the Gold medal as their only goal. Setting the pace from the beginning of testing, Sikes lead every lap and was officially credited with a 26 second victory in the 35th Anniversary Formula Continental Championship event.. Thirty-one FC cars started the 19 lap event in what was the largest FC or F2000 race in many years. "All the hard work that went into making this car the fastest out there finally paid off. Greg Rice and the whole Rice Race Prep team worked so hard for this." reports Simon. " It’s been a year since we finished 2nd in the same event at Road America. We set our sights on the top step this year and performed when the time came. Such an awesome effort by everyone involved: Quicksilver Race Engines, Hoosier Racing Tire, Primus Racing Parts, and of course my family."

Team owner Greg Rice was also ecstatic with the victory. "This is our problem child car in the fleet. We had the freakiest problems with this car at the last two Runoffs and we went all out for this 35th event. After more freaky failures early in the week, I was never more nervous than the last few laps in this race. Alan, Andrew, Jared, and Jeremy helped us this week, but lot of people have contributed to the success of this team on this day, including Steve Bamford, Alec Purdy, Bill Vallis, Carlos Rodrigues, Brandon Dixon, Lee Williams, and my family.

As Simon Sikes moves on in his pursuit of a career in motorsport, the RiceRace team needs a new driver for the 2022 season. The Team will have the car available for SCCA events starting with the March SuperTour event at Road Atlanta, and including the June Sprints. Interested drivers can contact Greg at RiceRacePrep@gmail.com. RiceRace will also continue to compete in SCCA and Pro events with their F1600 Mygales.
