Ely Navarro to F1600 with RiceRace

Ely Navarro will join RiceRace to contest the 2023 Formula Race Promotions F1600 Championship Series. taking over the #01 Mygale driven by Thomas Schrage to the 2022 championship. After testing with the team in the fall on 2022, Ely will make his 2023 debut at the Road Atlanta Hoosier Super Tour event on March 9-12. Two weeks later, the FRP F1600 series starts at Road Atlanta before making 6 more stops for events at Mid-Ohio, Lime Rock, PIRC, Road America, NJMP and Summit Point. Ely and RiceRace will contest all 21 races over the 7 event weekends.

Ely Navarro is 18 years old and an honor roll student at Hamilton South Eastern High School in Fishers, Indiana. Ely started racing karts at 10 years old in South Bend. Ely has won multiple Karting championships from 2018 to 2020 in the Indianapolis area and Midwest USA. Ely won the 2019 Lucas Oil School of Racing Shootout presented by Cooper Tires. In 2020, he won the Lucas Oil School of Racing Championship series earning him a scholarship to the USF2000 - Road to Indy series. Ely Navarro finished every USF 2000 series race for the 2021 season and won the hard charge award at the Lucas oil oval. In 2022 Ely transitioned into prototype endurance racing and also worked to sharpen his race craft under direct coaching with Buddy Rice at the Radford School of racing SRT test track.

RiceRace is a successful small race team based in Ransomville, New York. The team runs three Mygale F1600 cars and one Citation FC car in Pro and SCCA race events. Before winning the 2022 F1600 Championship, the team won the 2020 F1600 Championship and 2020 SCCA Runoffs in FF. The team also won the 2016 F2000 Championship and the 2021 SCCA Runoffs in FC. The championship team is seeking drivers to join the team for the 2023 season. The team works closely with suppliers Hoosier, Quicksilver, and Primus Racing Parts.
