RiceRace Continues to Roll at Summit Point

Simon Sikes just a tick ahead of Jackson Lee and the pack.

Simon Sikes and Jackson Lee continued their strong performance at Summit Point, and were joined in the front pack by part-time teammate Kyle August. The trio finished 1-2-4 in qualifying, 1-2-5 in race 1, 2-3-4 in race 2, and 2-3-7 in race 3. Each started a race from the pole. Team owner Greg Rice reports, " The script of the last few races where Simon won race 1 and Jackson won race 3, appeared to be in play but Jackson got shuffled out while leading into the last corner. Jackson, and rival Dylan Christie, have really demonstrated what the F1600 Series is all about as they have figured out what it takes, and become consistent podium visitors. Simon is still the pace-setter but with drafting and pack-racing, any of a half-dozen others can win races. We are all very proud of the progress Kyle has made. Not from a karting background, he just continues to get closer to the front."

The RiceRace team will test their Citation F2000 car at PIRC this weekend in preparation for the SCCA Runoffs. The team still needs sponsor or benefactor involvement before they can confirm a FC Runoff entry. Simon Sikes and Kyle August are confirmed to compete in Formula F at the Runoffs which take place at Road America in early October. Following the Runoffs, Simon and Jackson will compete in the final two FRP F1600 events at PIRC and Road Atlanta. Their Group 6 and Tnemec entries currently top the championship point standings.

RiceRace will then stay at Road Atlanta for the American Road Race of Champions on November 6-8 and is inviting drivers who are considering racing F1600 and FF in 2021 to sample the class and team. ARRC team drivers will be offered a discounted price for the event, which will become free if the driver commits to 10 or more events with RiceRace in 2021, with a confirmation deposit by the year end. Drivers for the ARRC event will need to have a SCCA competition license, have paid the event fee and damages deposit, and be qualified to race a F1600/FF race car.

The ARRC event is a Showcase event for the Southeast Division of SCCA and the Road Atlanta race track, which will fall twice on the 2021 RiceRace schedule. Simon Sikes prepared for his impressive 2020 season by sweeping every session at the 2019 ARRC event.
