Simon Sikes and Rice Race Chase 35th Anniversary FC Championship at SCCA Runoffs at Indy

The 2021 SCCA Runoffs entry opened on July 14th and 17 Formula Continental drivers had entered after only 6 hours. Among those entered was Simon Sikes in the RiceRace Citation F2000 car. It will be the 2nd attempt for Simon and RiceRace who finished 2nd in the 2020 event. An electrical problem handicapped them in the critical 2nd qualifying session, and they never could get to the front in 2020. "We are excited to be part of this special 35th Anniversary event and have stepped up our program after our unfinished business last year." Reports team owner Greg Rice. "We are thankful for the support of our fine suppliers, Quicksilver Race Engines and Hoosier Tires, and sponsors Group 6 Apparel and Susi Uhl Art. We are working hard to find another sponsor who can help with a testing budget". The race takes place at Indy on October 2nd.

Simon and his RiceRace crew did 5 races to qualify for the 2021 SCCA Runoffs event, scoring 3 wins and 2 seconds. Simon also raced a RiceRace F1600 car at the Mid-Ohio FRP event, sweeping the weekend winning pole and all 3 races. Simon's main focus in 2021 has been in Road to Indy USF2000, driving for Legacy Autosport, where he has had podium finishes in his last 4 races. In 2020, Simon and RiceRace won the FRP F1600 Championship, and the Formula F championship at the SCCA Runoffs.

Stay tuned for more announcements from RiceRace regarding their other drivers at the SCCA Runoffs. RiceRace will have 3 Formula F entries for that race which also takes place on October 2nd before the FC race. To discuss 2022 racing with RiceRace, please contact Greg Rice at RiceRacePrep@gmail.com
