SIMON SIKES Wins National FF Championship

Simon Sikes drove his RiceRace Mygale to victory at Road America on Saturday at the SCCA Runoffs. Sikes battled with multi-time FF champions Tim Kautz and Jonathan Kotyk, with 4 other drivers not far behind. With 3 long straights, positions in the big pack changed several times per lap. Simon and RiceRace have won 14 FF and F1600 races in the last 16 months and currently lead the FRP F1600 Championship point standings with 2 events remaining. RiceRace team-mate Kyle August was also part of the lead pack and finished 5th in his Monro entry.

Later on Saturday afternoon, Simon and the RiceRace team scored the silver medal in the FC class Runoffs race. A failed voltage regulator in the determinate 2nd qualifying session left Sikes in the 4th starting position, and he was never able to get to the front in the 13 lap race driving the Hoosier RiceRace Citation. Team owner Greg Rice reports, "It is as tough to win the Runoff event as a FRP Championship event. I am so proud of this team that has won 10 of the toughest FF/F1600 races held in the USA this year. Simon almost stole that FC race too, so it was a memorable weekend."

Simon will be joined by new team-mates Trey Burke and Jason Pribyl at Pittsburgh International Race Complex this weekend for FRP F1600 rounds 13-15. While Simon chases the FRP title, RiceRace team-mate Jackson Lee is in the UK representing Team USA in preparation for the FF Festival. The FRP F1600 Championship will conclude October 30-31 at Road Atlanta.
