Sikes and RiceRace Still Rolling in FRP F1600 at PIRC

Simon Sikes, Jason Pribyl, and Trey Burke line up for qualifying.

One week after winning the National Championship with a Runoff win at Road America, Simon Sikes protected his FRP F1600 points lead with a pair of wins at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. The final FRP races take place on October 31st at Road Atlanta. Simon was joined by two newcomers to F1600, as Trey Burke and Jason Pribyl also raced for the RiceRace team. Both improved their pace throughout the event. After finishing 5th and 4th in the first two races, Trey was challenging for the lead in race 3, when he came together with another car and damaged his suspension. His race ended early but it was a very impressive performance. Jason had the opposite conclusion. After not finishing race 2 after finding a wet curb, Jason started race 3 towards the back but drove through the pack to finish 4th. Classified as 2nd in class, it was technically a 1-2 class finish for RiceRace.

RiceRace team owner Greg Rice reported "It was an outstanding weekend for our team. Simon did what Simon does so well. His success means he is a target for a dozen other competitors, so he must race very defensively. To win 2 of 3 under that pressure is impressive. Both our other drivers had a blast and seem ready to succeed in F1600. Trey's run to the front in race 3 was inspiring, and I think he has a good chance to win a Road Atlanta race. Our focus will briefly shift to cheering on Jackson and Team USA at the festival, and Simon in USF2000 at St Pete". We will be ready foe the FRP Finale at Road Atlanta on Oct 30-31.
