What Off Season?

Its been a busy ten days for Rice Race Prep. First, a road trip to Indy to pick up the ex-Colton Herta Mygale. Three days later, the Zetec F2000 engine and 3 Honda F1600 engines were delivered to Quicksilver in Maryland. Six days later, two other engines delivered to BritainWest Motorsport in Brantford Ontario. Engines in Row Friday Nov 15th was the Night of Champions celebration for the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship in north Toronto. It was an excellent event and presentation by Jason and Diane of Move Motorsport. The Ontario Formula 1600 community seems to be in excellent hands under their guidance. The two champions honored were Jack Mitchell Jr (class A) and Craig Willis (class B). Both are fine young men and worthy champions. This followed the Nov 11th announcement of "The Formula 1600 Super Series"   Super Series TORONTO, ON & MONTREAL, QC (November 11, 2013) – In a bold move to re-establish Formula 1600 as the single most important step in launching young Canadian racing drivers’ careers, Jason Sharpe of Move Motorsports (promoters of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship based in Ontario) and Marcel Lafontaine of Formula Tour (promoters of the Formula Tour F1600 Championship based in Quebec) have reached an agreement to jointly promote a new, inter-provincial championship named “The Formula 1600 Super Series.” The Super Series will be comprised of four premiere events, two each from the Toyo Tires F1600 Series and the Formula Tour F1600 Series. The Super Series will have it’s own points system and will have a prize package for the Champion worthy of the level of competition it is sure to generate.   On a sad note, Nick Majors has moved on from his job as CASC Ontario Race Director. Nick was always accessible, accountable, and did not hide when questions were tough. The Ontario formula community will really miss him. Meanwhile, CASC primadonna, Perry Iannuzzi continues to put gamesmenship and control ahead of respecting the motorsport community. We wish Nick well and hope we see his motorsport involvement continue.
