Steve Bamford opened the Formula Racing Promotions season in fine form by sweeping the Road Atlanta F2000 double-header. Starting deep in the pack after a transmission failure stopped him early in qualifying, Steve passed 11 cars between both races while setting fastest race race laps. It was a strong performance for the team which has not seen Steve drive a lap in 6 months. The crew was spectacular in changing the ring and pinion in less than 3 hours to make race 1.
Steve also had the speed in his F1600 car, scoring one 2nd, and two 3rds in the F1600 triple-header. Steve led laps in each race, including parts of the final laps, but came up just short. The strong performance in all 5 races gives Steve and RRP the points lead in both Series.
Next race is Watkins Glen May 13-15. Steve will make his F4 debut with RRP two weeks later at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. Bamford and Rice Race Prep, 2 Wins, 5 podiums
