Haas wins Masters race at PIRC in FRP F1600

Joel Haas won his first FRP F1600 Masters race with a dominant performance in Race 3 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. Joel should have won Race 1, but a desperation move from behind in the last corner on the last lap, left him with a broken car and engine. Our Rice Race Prep crew literally worked all night to get the Parametric Solutions Piper back on track for Race 2 where he came out on the short end of a photo finish. That set the stage for the strong Race 3 performance and the elusive 1st win. Joel takes over the Masters Championship point race heading to Summit Point for the next event. Greg Rice comments on the weekend result, "It was a gritty performance from Joel and the team but symbolic of what this group continues to accomplish. Like several of our Steve Bamford wins, we dug deep when most would have loaded up the trailer. As with Steve, we have built a program around Joel that brings driver development, engineering, car development, solid preparation, and attention to detail, all to the standards required to win races and championships. We had some new pieces on the car this weekend, and the pieces on hand to get the car back on track. I am so proud of everyone involved." RRP guest driver, 2015 SCCA FF Champion, Rick Payne, put in an impressive performance in our classic Reynard. Rick set the pace in initial practice but some recurring driveline problems kept him from finishing as well as he should have. Rick finished 2nd in Race 1 and ran second for several laps in Race 3. We look forward to having Rick back for a better run when we get the car running better. Our previous guest driver, Jonathan Kotyk swept the weekend with 3 overall wins, making it 4 wins in a row since driving the Reynard. Hopefully it sets Rick up for a winning streak too. Rice Race Prep would also like to congratulate our website designer (and IT adviser) Will Salisbury who continues to rack up podiums in the Gear Up - F Series in his GGR Formula 125 machine. Way to go Will! Maybe we will see Will in cars one day.
