RiceRace Recruiting Runoff Racers

RiceRace announced the first two of their 2020 SCCA Runoff entries today. Simon Sikes and Kyle August will race in the Formula F class in their Group 6 and Monro sponsored entries. The team is still recruiting drivers for another Mygale FF, a Reynard FF, and a Citation FC car. As the last potential qualifying event is August 28-30 at PIRC, there is limited time to confirm plans for Runoff participation. Simon and Kyle raced at the June Sprints in June and met the eligibility terms. Drivers need to finish one SCCA Majors event in the class they will compete in at the Runoffs. There are also waivers available for Canadian drivers who met the eligibility requirements in 2019.

RiceRace owner Greg Rice reports, "Both the #52 Mygale and Citation are potential winning cars, as they are two of the very best cars in their respective classes, with about a dozen wins between them in the last 18 months, including at Road America. The #52 is especially unique for a Mygale as it is extensively modified to accept a tall driver. And the Citation is the perfect F2000 car for Road America. The Reynard would be a perfect for someone looking to participate, rather than win, as the car is older, but roomier, and more accommodating to stockier drivers. We also have the ability to assist drivers who have their own race cars and need some help at the Runoffs. There have been Rice-prepared cars racing at the Runoffs most years since 1987 and we will be proud to be there in 2020. We hope we can add a few more drivers to the team and compete in several classes."

Simon Sikes will drive the #6 Mygale FF, bringing support from Group 6 Apparel which provides apparel for karting using custom molded SFI compliant protective padding. Kyle August will drive the #13 Mygale FF sponsored by Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers. Headquartered in Rochester, NY, Monro, Inc. is a leading independently-owned and operated auto service and tire provider in the United States. All RiceRace entries will have support from team sponsors Susi Uhl Art, Fox40, and Ruthie’s Rental Cottage. Susi Uhl Art produces unique abstract pebble art that makes for a very personal gift. Fox40 USA sells sporting goods, featuring the Fox40 whistle, the world's best whistle. Ruthie's Rental Cottage is a luxury rental property on Lake Seneca near Watkins Glen, NY. RiceRace uses Hoosier racing tires and Quicksilver race engines.
